Kick off 2022 by learning Aikido! Get your training started on 2nd February with our six-week Adult Aikido Beginners’ Course. You don't need any previous experience or skill, just enthusiasm to try something new and rewarding.
What can you expect to get out of the Aikido Beginners’ Course?
Develop whole-body strength, resilience and agility
Improve your balance and coordination
Fall safely and avoid injury
Increase your concentration and awareness
Become calmer under pressure
Discover a new perspective on resolving conflict
Make new friends from diverse backgrounds and become part of a global community
What are the Beginners’ Aikido Classes like?
Each class starts with a brief warm up and mobilisation. Then you will be taught various ways to roll safely and comfortably when you lose your balance. You will be introduced to the fundamentals of causing someone to lose balance, fall or be immobilised through demonstrations by the instructor and one-to-one practice with a more experienced partner who can coach you through these new skills. Practice is collaborative rather than competitive. You will also be introduced to the concepts that make Aikido a unique practice, but one with deep roots in Japan’s culture and philosophy.
Who practices Aikido?
People just like you! Aikido Auckland Seishinkan has women and men from a wide variety of backgrounds and walks of life. You will be on the mat with people from their teens to their sixties who have been training anywhere from a few weeks to a few decades. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and everyone is keen to share their love of Aikido with you.
